Trip Overview

This 4 day journey takes you from Marrakech into Morocco’s remote southern desert. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass to the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, then continue through Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley to Agdez. Travel deeper along palm groves and Berber villages to reach M’hamid, the gateway to the Sahara, before venturing off-road to the vast Erg Chigaga dunes for a camel ride, sunset, and a magical night under the stars. Return via Lake Iriqui, Foum Zguid, and Taznakht to Ouarzazate before driving back through the High Atlas to Marrakech.

Itinerary

Day-1 Marrakech → Ait Benhaddou → Agdez

Pick-up from your hotel in Marrakech and drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, famous for its role in many movies. Continue through Ouarzazate and over the Tizi n’Tinififft Pass to reach Agdez in the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight in Agdez.

Day-2 Agdez → M’hamid → Erg Chigaga Desert

After breakfast, travel along the palm-filled Draa Valley passing traditional Berber villages. Stop at Tamgroute to visit the Koranic library and green pottery workshops. Continue to M’hamid, the gateway to the Sahara, and then take an off-road track through the desert to reach Erg Chigaga dunes. Enjoy a camel ride, sunset views, dinner, and overnight in a desert camp under the stars.

Day-3 Erg Chigaga → Foum Zguid → Ouarzazate

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, drive off-road via Lake Iriqui and the desert plateau to reach Foum Zguid. Continue your journey through Taznakht, known for Berber carpets, before arriving in Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day-4 Ouarzazate → Marrakech

After breakfast, visit the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate before driving back through the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech, where your tour ends.
