This 10 day tour takes you from Tangier to Marrakech, blending Morocco’s mountains, medinas, and desert landscapes. Explore Chefchaouen’s blue streets, Roman ruins at Volubilis, Fes’ historic medina, and the Middle Atlas mountains. Experience a camel trek in the Erg Chebbi dunes, a night in a Berber desert camp, and the dramatic Todra and Dades Valleys, before finishing in Marrakech with its vibrant souks and optional Essaouira day trip.
Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen
Arrive in Tangier and drive into the Rif Mountains. Wander through the blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen, visit the Kasbah Museum, and soak in the relaxed mountain atmosphere. Overnight in Chefchaouen.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
Leave Chefchaouen for the Roman ruins of Volubilis, then continue to Meknes to explore Bab Mansour Gate, Heri es-Souani, and the medina. Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon. Overnight in Fes.
Day 3: Fes Sightseeing
Spend a full day discovering Fes with a local guide. Visit Al-Qarawiyyin University, Bou Inania Madrasa, the Chouara Tanneries, and the bustling souks of the medina. Overnight in Fes.
Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Merzouga
Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane (“Little Switzerland”) and the Azrou cedar forests to see Barbary monkeys. Continue through Midelt and the Ziz Valley before reaching Merzouga. Dinner and overnight near the dunes.
Day 5: Merzouga Desert Exploration
Explore Merzouga’s highlights: Khamlia village for Gnawa music, Mifis mines, and visits to nomadic families. In the afternoon, enjoy a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, followed by dinner and overnight in a Berber desert camp.
Day 6: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Wake up early for a sunrise over the Sahara. Visit Rissani market, then walk through the dramatic Todra Gorge before continuing to the Dades Valley with its oasis and “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. Overnight in a kasbah hotel.
Day 7: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech
Drive along the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs to Ouarzazate. Visit Kasbah Taourirt and the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass to reach Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 8: Marrakech Sightseeing
Discover Marrakech with a local guide: Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Majorelle Garden, and the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 9: Day Trip to Essaouira (Optional)
