Highlights include Ifrane, the cedar forest of Azrou, a camel trek and desert camp in Merzouga, Todra Gorge, Dades Valley, Ouarzazate, and the famous Aït Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas to reach Marrakech.
Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Cedar Forest → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga (Camel Trek)
Start your 3 day Fes to Marrakech desert adventure with a hotel pick-up in Fes. Drive through the Middle Atlas to Ifrane, Morocco’s “Switzerland,” then continue to the Cedar Forest of Azrou to spot Barbary macaques. Cross the mountain passes to Midelt for lunch, then follow the lush Ziz Valley past Erfoud’s fossil workshops to reach Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara. After welcome tea, pack an overnight bag for a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi Dunes, enjoy a Berber dinner with live music, and sleep under the stars in your desert camp.
Day 2: Merzouga → Tinghir → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
Rise early for a desert sunrise, then ride back to Merzouga village. Travel to Tinghir to explore the 300-meter-high Todra Gorge, a paradise for hikers and photographers. After lunch, continue through dramatic scenery to the Dades Valley, famous for its kasbahs and rock formations. Dinner and overnight in a traditional guesthouse.
Day 3: Dades Valley → Roses Valley → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech
After breakfast, follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through Kelaat M’gouna, renowned for its Rose Festival, and Skoura with its palm groves and ancient kasbahs. In Ouarzazate, “Hollywood of Africa,” visit the film studios before heading to the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, seen in Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch and exploration, cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping for panoramic views, and arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon to end your 3 day Sahara tour.
