This 3 day journey takes you from the Atlantic coast of Agadir all the way to the cultural heart of Fes. Along the way you’ll stroll the lively streets of Taroudant, wander the ancient mud-brick alleys of Ait Benhaddou, and feel the movie-set atmosphere of Ouarzazate. You’ll gaze up at the towering walls of the Todra Gorges and ride a camel into the golden dunes of Merzouga for an unforgettable night under the stars. On your final day you pass through cedar forests and the alpine town of Ifrane before arriving in historic Fes.
Day 1: Agadir → Ouarzazate via Taroudant, Taliouine, Taznakht & Ait Benhaddou
After breakfast in Agadir, head east to Taroudant, the “Little Marrakech,” for a stroll through its ramparts and souks. Continue to Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron capital, to learn about saffron production. Then travel through Taznakht, famous for Berber carpets, before reaching the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou Kasbah for a guided walk through its ancient streets. In the afternoon, continue to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Desert,” to visit Kasbah Taourirt or enjoy panoramic city views. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.
Day 2: Ouarzazate → Merzouga via Dades Valley & Todra Gorge
After breakfast, follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs past the palm groves of Skoura and the fragrant Valley of Roses. Continue to the Dades Valley to admire its lush scenery and “Monkey Fingers” rock formations, then on to the dramatic Todra Gorge for a short walk between its towering cliffs. Pass through Erfoud and Rissani before arriving in Merzouga. Meet your camel caravan for a trek into the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, watch a magical sunset, and enjoy dinner by the campfire under the stars. Overnight in a Berber desert camp.
Day 3: Merzouga → Fes via Ziz Valley, Midelt, Azrou & Ifrane
Rise early for a Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, return to Merzouga and begin your journey north through the lush Ziz Valley, pausing for photos of palm groves against the desert. Cross the Middle Atlas to Midelt for lunch, then continue through the cedar forests of Azrou to see Barbary monkeys. End the day in Ifrane, Morocco’s “Little Switzerland,” before arriving in Fes by evening, concluding your 3 day trip from Agadir.
